Detailed Kilimanjaro 6 Days Rongai Route 2024

Rongai Route is a good option for climbers looking for a more quiet The ascent of Kilimanjaro. Climbers will be able to cross Mount Kilimanjaro during their adventure thanks to this route's approach from the mountain's infrequently traveled north side and descent through Marangu on the west. Climbers can experience a distant walk through pristine terrain on Rongai, where there is a greater chance of seeing wildlife. The Rongai Route has some disadvantages, including a less than perfect acclimatization profile, despite the fact that the trail is not particularly steep.

Although some ads claim that this path starts on the "Kenyan side" of Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania's borders encompass the entire mountain. Compared to other routes, the Rongai route begins closer to the Kenyan border, although the entire walk is entirely in Tanzania.

How Hard is Rongai Route ? One of the simplest ascents of Kilimanjaro, the Rongai trail softly ascends while avoiding strenuous excursions, and it is occasionally suggested for beginners. The Rongai Route's acclimatization profile suffers as a result, as it is impossible to follow the climber's maxim of "climb high, sleep low" without severe ascents, which can make climbers uncomfortable at higher altitudes. To maximize the likelihood of success, African Trek & Travel addresses this problem by providing an additional acclimatization day.

Best Time Of The Year TO Climbing Kilimanjaro
We typically suggest that the warmest and driest months of the year, which are December to mid-March and mid-June towards the end of October, are the best times to climb Kilimanjaro. Unfortunately, despite the fact that these are the months with the best weather for trekking, they also happen to be busiest.Regardless of the season, the likelihood of a significant weather change always exists.

Day 1: NALE MURU GATE – SIMBA CAMP: 7KM /5MI | 3-4 HRS | RAINFOREST

Your guide will give you a general briefing following breakfast at your accommodation. Our team will perform a last cross-check of supplies and equipment while you register for your climb at the Marangu Park Gate, pack the vehicles, and check your equipment. You will be driven a further 70 kilometers on subpar roads after registration to the Rongai Start Point at 1.950 meters. The hike starts at Nale Moru hamlet and travels along a gentle, twisting path that first passes through fields of corn and potatoes before entering a rainforest home to a variety of wildlife. 4-5 hours of hiking will bring you to you washing water and some snacks before dinner is served in the mess-tent. 6,398 ft to 9,300 ft, 5 miles, approx. 4 hours

After breakfast, you begin your ascent on a route that leads up to Kibo. With a nice view of Kilimanjaro's twin peaks, Mawenzi and Kibo, and your first look of the ice fields on the Eastern crater rim, you will spend the majority of the day climbing slopes flanked with heather and erica. When we get at the second cave, our cook will greet you with boiled drinking water and hot washing water. You can relax while enjoying some snacks and a delicious lunch. There is plenty of time to unwind after lunch.9,300 ft to 11,300 ft, 4 miles, approx. 3-4 hours

Elevation: 3936m/12,913ft to 5174m/16975ft Altitude gained: 1238m You start your adventure into the Alpine Desert environment from the Third Cave early in the morning as you leave the semi-desert area and continue your rise. The Kibo Huts are reached by hiking today just below the Kibo crater wall. You will now combine with the Marangu Route, which you are going to take as you ascend to the summit. Before going to bed by 7 PM, you will prepare your clothing and equipment (change the batteries in your torch and camera) and try to get a few hours of rest before your summit attempt.

    Day 5: KIBO HUTS – SUMMIT: 4KM /2.5 MI UP | 5-7HRS | – HOROMBO HUTS: 15.75KM /9.8MI DOWN | 5-6HRS |

Elevation: 5174m/16975ft to 5895m/19,341ft Altitude gained: 721m As morning arrives with an early start between midnight and two in the morning, excitement is growing. The hardest part of the walk both physically and mentally is this section.

Between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers, we make our way to the peak while attempting to stay warm and mindful of the incredible sense of success that awaits us. On the crater rim, Stella Point is reached by ascending over dense scree in a northwesterly direction. During your brief break here, you will be rewarded with the most stunning sunrise. The sunrise can be seen from the peak by more rapid hikers. You are likely to run into snow the entire way up the final hour-long hike to Uhuru Peak from here.

Congratulations, one step at a time you have now reached Uhuru Peak the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the entire continent of Africa! After photos, celebrations and maybe a few tears of joy we take a few moments to enjoy this incredible accomplishment. We begin our steep descent down to Mweka Camp, stopping at Barafu for lunch and a very brief rest. We strongly recommend gaiters and trekking poles for uncooperative loose gravel and volcano ash terrain. Well-deserved rest awaits you to enjoy your last evening on the mountain. Overnight Mweka Camp.

    Day 6: HOROMBO HUTS – MARANGU GATE – MOSHI: 20KM/12.5MI |6-7HRS | RAINFOREST

Elevation: 3721m/12,208ft to 1905m/6250ft Altitude lost: 1816m It's time to say goodbye after breakfast and a sincere ceremony celebrating teamwork and appreciation with your colleagues. After pausing for lunch at the Mandara Huts, we resume the descent. Given that you will be leaving them here, don't forget to tip your guides, cooks, and porters. You receive your summit credentials as you make your way back to the Marangu Park Gate. Gaiters and trekking poles are highly advised because the terrain is damp, muddy, and steep and because the weather has suddenly warmed up. A car will be waiting for you at the entrance to take you back to your hotel in Moshi (this will take around 45 minutes). Enjoy a hot shower that has been overdue, food, and festivities! As you take a quick nap here, the sun rises. The sunrise can be seen from the peak by more rapid hikers. From You're likely to run into snow the entire time you climb the final hour to Uhuru Peak.
